Wildfire Risk Prevention – Home Assessments in Lake Grove

House FireWhile Northwest Oregon and the Willamette Valley had a wet spring, the remainder of the state is experiencing drought conditions. Conditions can change quickly, as we saw with the record-breaking heat and drought conditions in 2021.

The Lake Oswego Fire Department offers free home assessments for homes in the Wildland-Urban Interface. Assessments focus on the home ignition zone and provide recommendations for protecting your home from wildfire.

Recommendations may include:

  1. Remove flammable debris from your roof and gutters.
  2. Cut back tree limbs at least 10 feet from the roof line.
  3. Remove all combustible items from under your deck or porch.
  4. Plant fire-resistant plants.
  5. Keep grass mowed to less than 4 inches in height.
