Wildfire Risk Prevention - Home Assessments in Lake Grove
While Northwest Oregon and the Willamette Valley had a wet spring, the remainder of the state is experiencing drought conditions. Conditions can change quickly, as we saw with the record-breaking heat and drought conditions in 2021.
The Lake Oswego Fire Department is offering free home assessments for homes in the Wildland-Urban Interface. Assessments focus on the home ignition zone and provide recommendations on ways to protect your home from wildfire.
Recommendations may include:
Remove flammable debris from your roof and gutters.
Cut back tree limbs at least 10 feet from the roof line.
Remove all combustible items from under your deck or porch.
Plant fire-resistant plants.
Keep grass mowed to less than 4 inches in height.
For questions or to request a home assessment, please contact the Lake Oswego Fire Department at 503-635-0275.
